[Nederlandse versie] [English version]

I was born in Amsterdam on 22 June 1978. From the beginning I have attended the Waldorf school (‘Vrije School’ in Dutch). Starting in Amstelveen on the Parcivalschool and later on in Amsterdam on the Geert Grote School. At present I’m living in Amstelveen together with my wife, our two sons and our cat.

Since 2004 I’m working as a teacher in Dutch language (2nd degree). After finishing my studies I worked in the office of several IT firms for 5 years (3rd line administrative agent). During my time at the office I learned a lot about digitization, communication and IT in general. Since the start of school-year 2012-2013 I’m working as IT-coordinator. Since school-year 2015-2016 I started working as overall project-leader IT & Education.

Of course you can also find me on LinkedinMedium and Twitter and I’d be more than happy to talk about all things IT,  education and development.

I’ve been a metalhead for quite some time now. From around my 14th year it started with Death and Malevolent Creation. After that I followed the ‘default’ path of Guns ’n Roses, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth and so on.

Next to metal there are some other genres and composers I really like. It all started once with The Beatles (especially their work after India! 🙂 ), John Lennon, E.L.O., Harry Sacksioni, Randy Newman and more of those bands and artists dating from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Furthermore I really like certain electronic music (Boards of Canada, Ulver, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin), minimal music as composed by Simeon ten Holt and Philip Glass and traditional Indian music.

After playing traverse flute for nine years I started drumming. Drumming became my absolute passion. I started as an autodidact, but thanks to a couple of very good drum-friends, I always had a lot of information, support and inspiration around. After a lot of fooling around in rehearsal rooms and playing in my first bands, I decided to take lessons. So for some years already, I’m a proud student of Marcel van Weerdenburg and his guidance and knowledge have been and still are of enormous benefit!

When I became a little older I discovered Tibetan Buddhism through a very good friend of mine. Buddhism unifies everything I discover in my live and everything I see as important and worthwhile. Since 2004 I’m a student of Sogyal Rinpoche. Since 2007 I’m working as webmaster for Rigpa Netherlands.
