As you might or might not yet have noticed: coming week is zero hour! We'll enter the studio and record all the drums for Obsidian's upcoming CD. We have some titles and song titles in the works, but we can not yet reveal any of that. But anyway, here's a little overview of what will happen the coming week.
On Monday I'll be practicing for the last time in our rehearsal room and then I'll break up my stuff and pack it for the Rotterdam Excess studio's, where most of Holland's creme-de-la-metal-creme
have been recording before! So next to the fact that it's utterly exciting to be playing in a studio once again, it's also a great honor to be able to do it in this acclaimed studio.
Tuesday we'll be transferring all the stuff to Rotterdam.
Early Wednesday Simon and I will be traveling to Rotterdam again and spend the day mainly setting up, tuning the kit and placing the microphones. As this proofs to be quite a task, it's probably not a bad idea to plan a lot of time for it.
Thursday will be a recording day as well as Friday and Friday night we'll travel home for a good night's sleep in our homely homes.
Saturday morning we'll travel back to Rotterdam and continue recording.
Sunday will be the final recording day and in the evening we'll pack it all up and travel back to Amsterdam, hopefully having wrapped up some very kick-ass and mind blowing drum tracks to be further processed.
We have eight tracks to record and one interlude, so make it nine-and-a-half track, and we have five days (minus one for setting up) to do so. That's pretty spacious concerning some other bands I know, but as we can take this much time: why shouldn't we? We happened to be able to do the same during the recording of 'Emerging' and it worked very well. Roughly you could say that we'll have to record two songs a day, which leaves a lot of room to re-record stuff if necessary, or to record some 'extra stuff'… (mysterious laughter).
I'll be using my all Meinl cymbal set up with some exciting new additions in comparison to my previous studio set up. The kit I'll be using is still my trusted Tama Black Rainbow Sparkle kit (to brighten up the weary moments) and I'll be taking my Pearl SensiTone snare to see how it will behave in the studio.
All in all I'm really very excited and focused on the upcoming experience. We have been working so hard to get to this point and I'm looking forward to all the work and the great companionship of my twisted little band mates, you can bet it will be great fun. As said, we'll post some videos to give you a taste of the complete adventure, so just keep an eye on the website.
'Till later!
Melle.
Toi toi toi voor jullie deze week !!!
