Working with Industrial Passage

[19/04/2008 @ 13:08 | Drums ]

Past week we had a very successful and inspiring recording session with Ewell Juliana, my good, good friend and musical multi talent. Ewell asked me to do a 30 minute, one take improvisation (which ended up being two takes because my mounted tom fell down) out of which he would create a new Industrial Passage album.

I've done some things together with Ewell in the past, like drumming for the industrial black/death metal project 'Sacrilegious Mind', but now the time arrive to try a different path. I was very excited from the beginning, because Ewell and his noise/drone partner Zeno are doing some amazing stuff that already gained them access to some greater radio shows and cult festivals.

With the help of Simon Lawford (guitars and various advanced audio stuff in Obsidian) we had a great time, I felt very welcome and inspired: the whole atmosphere was one of creativity and musical spirituality and that's exactly what creating music is all about.

At the moment Ewell is working on the album, mixing in guitars and other sounds. I have no idea how it will end up, but I'm very excited and I'm sure it will be a fascinating adventure! Stay tuned!
